Announcement on new bin uplift for Tenants

After weeks of frustration all round, the Co-op managed to finally meet up with North Lanarkshire Council Waste Management Team to discuss the new bin situation. Our thanks go to Councillor Meghan Gallagher who arranged and attended the meeting. We can now confirm what the new bin uplift system means to our tenants.

For all tenants living in flats (32 – 234 Fife Drive) (2 – 64 Davaar Drive) (1-15 Ashton Street) (1 – 15 Dinmont Crescent) you will be subject to an alternate weekly collection (Saturdays) This means that every Saturday you will receive an uplift, one week being the general waste bin, with the next being the blue bin. Items that should be put in the blue bins by those affected by this alternate weekly collection remain the same. It can be for cardboard, papers, plastics, cans etc.

Anyone living in the above flats should not be using a new blue bin with a green lid. The Council delivered a number of these bins to some residents by mistake they are removing them and yesterday (22 November 2017) emptied all blue bins on Davaar Drive again so it gives residents there a better chance to start recycling again. So remember, if you live in a block with flats (3 or 4 storey) you will have the alternate weekly collection on Saturdays. Please have your bin out at the kerbside for 7am.

For those who live in our remaining properties, you should now have a (general waste), (paper card and cardboard) (food and garden) and (glass metal plastics and cartons) waste bins and be resident at (21-45 and 2 – 12 Ashton Street) (17-21 Dinmont Crescent) (37 – 71 Fife Drive) (79-83 Kinloch Drive) (all of Lorne Drive) (all of Tulley Wynd). You should keep recycling with the new bins that have been provided and follow guidance provided, also having them out for uplift on the days they are due.

The Council’s website has good information for all residents on the new system and we encourage you to use it.  Please click on http://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=7451 and input your postcode to get clear information on bin uplift.   If you need further clarification please contact North Lanarkshire Council on 01698 403110.

We appreciate that it’s been a difficult time for residents and hope that things will become more manageable with the bin situation very soon.
